This is one of our favorite restaurants in GB. The are fast, friendly, and have great food 99% of the time. They do have that rare occasion they mess an order up but they always make it right.

A very pleasant surprise. The pork chili verde plate was very well flavored and accompanied by delicious traditional refried beans. We also had tacos carne asada. Very well flavored meat. Three generous tacos. The menu said it was accompanied by a tomatillo sauce. The red chili in the sauce far overpowered any tomatillo flavor but was good any way if a tad spicy for my Kansas palate. This dish was also accompanied by traditional refried beans with some queso. The decor was pleasant.

Playa Azul is great. The food is top quality and the service is also fast and excellent. This is an "authentic" Mexican restaurant, not Tex-Mex. The menu has a lot of choices. Prices are not the cheapest, but not expensive by any means. I rated this restaurant at 5 starts, and generally they deserve it. If I could have given it 4 1/2, I would have. The only knock I have on this place is that the chips and salsa are not that great. Other mexican places in town have better chips and salsa. Try the Cheese Chicken. It really is the best item on the menu (in my opinion).

Awesome place to eat, great family atmosphere and affordable food. You will never have to wait long as the food comes quick and the plates are hot! Make sure to check out the 99 cent margaritas on Thursday and Friday! Be aware that there is quite a wait on Friday nights!

Clean n quaint. Fast service. Decent food. Chips are good, which you're served when you sit. I got the chicken enchilada with red sauce. A healthier option if you don't want all that cheese. Chicken was a little tough but the flavors were all nice. Id come back and I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food.

This is definitely the best Mexican place in Great Bend, and that is saying something, because Great Bend has several excellent Mexican restaurants. First, the service is always top notch. They are friendly, super fast, and in general extremely well-managed. Second, the food is excellent. It seems quite authentic and has a good blend of spices. Third, the prices are really reasonable, especially for a sit-down restaurant. Friendly. Fast. Efficient. Tasty. Authentic. Inexpensive. Tough to beat that combination.

Quesadilla had very little cheese, it was disappointing. A quesadilla should have lots of cheese, it's in the name. Instead the cheese barely covered the middle of the small tortilla. Guacamole was oddly runny. More of a sauce than a paste. Overall dish was bland and didn't come with rice or beans. My friends seemed to like what they got, so maybe my dish got less love in the kitchen. At any rate, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Fun Mexican restaurant with a great atmosphere. Plenty of TV's for sports. Exciting time of the year. The food is excellent but I don't tolerate HOT so be sure to ask Nightly specials so pick you favorites. Thursday and Friday are my night since Marguerites are .99. !!!!

Great Mexican food! The servings are very satisfying, the seasoning is good. The guacamole may be a bit too spicy for some ! David, our waiter, was very cheerful & efficient! The Margaritas were fantastic ! On Thursday & Friday the Margaritas are only 99 cents! Give Playa Azul a try if you haven't been here !!

This is a great Mexican restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the food and margaritas are quite good. Having moved away from the area, I often miss being able to eat here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
